Over The Rainbow Yarn
Photos: Some inspiring projects you’ll be able to knit with ease after learning to steek!
Steeking means vertically cutting your knits to take an object knit in the round and make it flat, or to trim an edge down to size. It’s particularly useful for stranded colorwork cardigans and blankets because it’s quicker and easier to knit stranded colorwork in the round. It’s also great for alterations of hand-knits or commercial knits (ever found a sweater at Goodwill that you wanted to make into a cardigan?). Adding steeking to your skill set will open up your knitting world!
If you’re nervous about steeking, there’s no need to fret! In this class, we’ll practice steeking a knitted swatch.
Materials: Please bring a 4–8 inch stockinette swatch and any crochet hook. Yarn weight or gauge does not matter.
