Over The Rainbow Yarn
Wondering what to do with all those little bits of sock-weight scrap yarn? This project based on a pattern by Tiny Owl Knits is for you. It’s called the Beekeeper’s Quilt because it’s made of clever little hexagon-shaped pieces that fit together in a honeycomb-like pattern.
Each “hexipuff”is knit separately. They’re double-sided, and may be stuffed with a little fiber fluff for added warmth and cushiness. Then, they are sewn together at the end with a simple, quick quilting technique.
The Beekeeper’s Quilt is the perfect project for on-the-go knitting. Each hexipuff is like its own satisfying little mini-project. You may just finish a few before the class is through.
It’s also incredibly versatile – the possibilities are endless! Use the basic hexipuff design, or incorporate some texture or color work. Maybe an embroidered detail here and there?
Materials: Assortment of sock-weight or fingering-weight yarns and needles appropriate for the yarn (US 3 or 4).
