November Is Coming!
You know what that means, National Knit a Sweater Month! Or as it’s more commonly called NaKniSweMo (na-nee-sway-mo).
We believe that everyone should knit a sweater this November and we want to make it as easy for you as possible. So every Saturday in November from 12:00noon until 2:00pm we’ll be having a sweater workshop of sorts. For $100 you’ll get the Knitter’s Handy Book of Patterns by Ann Budd (a $29 value) and 4 classes!
The first class will be on November 7th and we’ll get you started. We’ll help you find the perfect yarn and decide how you want to start your sweater. At the second class, on November 14th, we’ll talk armhole and neck shaping. At the third class, on November 21st, we’ll handle the sleeves. On November 28nd, at the 4th class, we’ll help you with any seaming and we’ll also handle all the finishing, weaving in ends, blocking, etc. We know you can do it. Every knitter can knit a sweater! And we’re here to help. You can register and pay online, or give us a call at (207)-594-6060 or stop by the shop!
Week 1 will cover:
• Figuring out your size • Finding your yarn • Swatching • Casting On • Choosing an edge treatment •Getting started
Week 2 will cover:
• Armhole shaping • Neck shaping
Week 3 will cover
• Sleeves • Picking up stitches
Week 4 will cover:
• Seaming • Blocking • Finishing
Because we only have 4 classes to accomplish our goals, we’ll be limiting the choices to a simple set-in sleeve pullover with either a v, crew or turtle neck. We’ll be moving pretty fast through the material, so basic knitting skills are a prerequisite. But if you’ve been wanting to knit your first sweater, this is the perfect class for you. Join the movement; knit a sweater during NaKniSweMo and wear it proudly!
