Knitting For Felting
Date(s) - Sat, July 23, 2016
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Over The Rainbow Yarn
Join guest teacher Tammy Hare to learn the process of knitting objects to be felted. Which yarns work well for felting? How much can you expect your work to shrink? You’ll find that imperfections in your work are invisible after the felting process, and scratchy wool yarns soften up like a dream. Felted fabric is thick, durable and very warm.
Tammy Hare lives in Camden and makes adorable felt purses which she sells at local craft fairs. She’ll be sharing her favorite basic felt purse pattern with students to get you started. The sky’s the limit with felting, though; you can make felt slippers, hats, mittens, scarves, or jackets. Once you’ve felted your work, you can easily embellish it with needle felted or embroidered decorations if it suits your fancy.
Prerequisites: Knit, Purl, Cast On, Bind Off
