Over The Rainbow Yarn
There are good reasons to use one kind of cast on over another. And there are so many to choose from! Firm, stretchy, invisible, matched, it all depends on how you want your finished piece to look and feel. In this class we’ll explore 6 methods of casting on so you can get the edges you need for whatever you’re working on.
First, we’ll discuss the difference between the long tail and the knitted cast on, and we’ll address the pitfalls of the backwards thumb loop cast on. Then, we’ll learn and explore the uses of these six different cast-on styles:
• Cable Cast On
• Tubular Cast On
• Provisional Cast On
• Picot Cast On
• Two-Color Braided Cast On
• Emily Ocker’s Magic Ring Cast On
Requirements: Basic Knitting Skills
Materials: Smooth, Light-Colored Yarn and Needles Appropriate for your Yarn, Optional, for your future reference: Cast On Bind Off by Leslie Ann Bestor
