Over The Rainbow Yarn
Tuesdays are for trying something new!
This Tuesday, we’ll teach you how to arm knit! Arm knitting means knitting with roving or extremely bulky yarn without any knitting needles – yes, you can use your arms as knitting needles! You won’t have to worry about putting down your work and picking it up later because you can complete a scarf within minutes or a large blanket within hours. In this class, we’ll teach you how to cast on, knit, purl and bind off with your arms. We’ll have plain sheep-colored roving available for sale by the pound. If you’d like to work with Malabrigo roving (pictured above), please let us know several weeks in advance so that we can place a special order for you.
By the end of class, you should have completed a scarf to wear home!
If you’ve seen the humongous, squishy blankets that have been making the rounds on social media – you can make one with your arms. We’ll talk about how to use plastic bags as stitch holders and extend the width you can cast on with your arms. A cowl knit with roving was also featured on the cover of Vogue Knitting’s 2016 Holiday edition!
- At least 1 pound of roving (or 3 or more strands of super-bulky yarn)
- No experience required!
Note: When you register online, we will reserve a spot for you. You may pay in-store on the day of class or any time prior.
Bookings are closed for this event.
