Over The Rainbow Yarn

The Yarn Harlot is coming!  The Yarn Harlot is coming!

We are so excited to have Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, the Yarn Harlot herself, coming to Rockland.  She’ll be doing a lecture at the Lincoln Street Center on Saturday evening, November 2, 2013, and two classes at Over The Rainbow Yarn on Sunday November 3, 2013.

For those of you who don’t know her, (Really?  You don’t know her?) Stephanie Pearl-McPhee is a knitter, writer and blogger extraordinaire.  Her sense of humor and down to earth perspective draw fans from all over the world.  Her books of essays about knitting and life have been on The New York Times Best Seller List.  Her Blog, The Yarn Harlot, has won the Canadian Blog Award in both the Best Activities and Best Blog categories.  She’s a knitting goddess and the brightest superstar in the knitting universe.  We’re thrilled to have her here, and we know you will be, too.

Here’s what she’ll be offering…

Saturday Night Lecture: This Is Your Brain On Knitting

After years of working with her own brain and making observations of other knitters, Stephanie added research and her own sense of humor and wit and stirred well.  Come let Stephanie tell you why you should start knitting if you don’t already, and why you should start another project if you do.  It’s sure to be informative and entertaining.

Where: The Lincoln Street Center, 24 Lincoln Street, Rockland, Maine

How Much: $20 on-line or $25 at the door

Sunday Evening Class: Knitting With Mawatta

Mawatta (also called silk hankies) is silk cocoons stretched and layered in a square shape.  In this class, Stephanie will show you how to pull these delicate layers into strands you can knit straight from the “hankie” to make mittens, hats, baby sweaters, anything you want.  Mawatta is an inexpensive and intriguing way to dabble in silk knitting.

Where: Over The Rainbow Yarn, 18 School Street, Rockland, Maine

How Much: $75

(There will be a $12 materials fee for the mawatta)

  1. How will we pick up our tickets if we reserve on line as I just did here….at the door? Thank you and I”m looking forward to it!

    • We are not actually printing tickets, Becky. We’ll have a list at the door and you are already on it. We’ll be giving away door prizes that will be randomly drawn, so we’ll be giving you a numbered raffle type ticket for that. We’ll also be giving away a limited number of grab bags to the early comers. We’re so looking forward to seeing you there.
