After much sober thought, I’ve come to the conclusion that Over The Rainbow Yarn is going out of business. I haven’t taken this decision lightly, but I am firm in my conviction. We’ll miss you all and the community we’ve built together over the last five and a half years, but OTR has grown less and less sustainable and I have to put the needs of my family first. It’s time for this endeavor to come to a close.
For the duration of our Going Out Of Business Sale, we’ll be open our regular hours, 10 AM to 6 PM, seven days a week. We will not, however, be open late, nor will we continue to host Stitch N Spin circles or offer classes. If you have Gift Cards, Store credit or Buddy Bucks, they must be redeemed before the end of The Sale To End All Sales, which we anticipate will be February 10, 2018. All sales will be final and we won’t be able to do any special ordering. If you have certificates for classes, please call or drop by so we can make an appointment.
We’ll post details of the sale on our Facebook page and our website so you can keep track of when discounts change. I encourage to you come often and to make sure that, if you are planning projects, you get all you need at the same time.
Together, we’ve built the yarn shop of my dreams, and I have so enjoyed serving you. I will not be leaving the church of yarn, altogether. I have three books in draft form and a stack of 100 or so designs all sketched with noted and rudimentary patterns to finish. I’ll be moving forward on creating a fiber festival here in Rockland. I’ll also be reworking the patterns on our Ravelry page and returning to regular blogging. I hope you’ll all keep in touch, and let me know what you’re working on; it was always my favorite part or being here at OTR.
As usual, if you have questions, comments, issues, concerns, poetry you want to recite, etc…
With deep affection,
Though we won’t have the School Street location any more, Mim will still be offering classes in the Midcoast area. She is also still teaching on The Schooner J&E Riggin and at The Whitehead Light Station in the summer of 2018. You can look at the links for scheduling. Mim is also going to keep this web site and our mailing list alive, so you can stay in the loop about classes and events as they come up.
We’ve had so much fun at The Maine’s Fastest Knitter Race and The Communiyt Blanket Marathon and we want to keep those events going. The newsletter will have details about those events as they approach.
